Private Browsing and Clearing History

Normally, your browser will remember which sites you have visited and will list them in its history section.  If you are worried that someone might check your computer, you can clear the history and set your browser not to remember which sites you have visited.

Please select your browser and follow the steps below:

 

Chrome

To clear browser history

1. Click the menu icon on the browser toolbar

2. Click Settings

3. Use the search box at the top right and search for "Clear", then click Clear browsing data

4. Select time period and items to delete and click Clear browsing data

To start private browsing

1. Click the menu icon on the browser toolbar

2. Click New incognito window

 

3. The top of the browser should look similar to the following

Firefox

To clear browser history

1. At the top of your browser, click the Tools button (Mac) or the Firefox button (Windows)

2. Click Options

3. Select the Privacy tab and click Clear your recent history

4. Click Clear now

To start private browsing

1. At the top of your browser, click the Tools button (Mac) or the Firefox button (Windows)

2. Select Start Private Browsing

3. The top of the browser should look similar to the following

To clear browser history

1. Click Tools in the left menu bar (if opened) or click on Tools in the lower right menu bar.

2. Click Internet Options and choose the General tab.

3. Click the Delete button under the "Browsing History" section.

4. Make sure you uncheck "Preserve Favorites Website Data" at the top of this window.

5. Make sure you check all options below "Preserve Favorites Website Data".

6. Click the Delete button.

To start private browsing

1. Click the Safety button at the top of the screen and clickInPrivate Browsing

2. The top of the browser should look similar to the following

To clear browser history

1. Click the Tools button in your browser and select Internet Options

 

2. On the General tab under the Browsing History section, click Delete

3. Check the boxes to delete history and click Delete

To start private browsing

1. Click the Tools button in your browser, select Safety, then click InPrivate Browsing.

2. The top of the browser should look similar to the following

Safari

To clear browser history

1. Choose Safari (Mac) or the gear icon (Windows)

2. Select Reset Safari

3. Check all of the boxes and click Reset

To start private browsing

1. Choose Safari (Mac) or the gear icon (Windows)

2. Click Private Browsing, then click OK
